PokeAwesome PokeAwesome

Rated 2.5 / 5 stars December 29, 2011

Ummm. . . . what?

I understand the humor that is supposed to be here. . . But I think I'm missing something. Such as:
1. Ash (or Red, or Gold or whoever) does in fact know about killing pokemon to eat. Check out the first season of the Anime, and the original Red and Blue. (Anyone not old enough to remember such things need not be watching this anyway)
2. What the hell? Why in the hell does a Hippie have a pokemon at all? Wouldn't he be the one on the sidelines saying "Make friends not battles"? (Which would probably have been funnier.
3. About the Venusaur. . . I'm not sure if you were making an otherwise unwilling character, or if you were trying to spoof the unreasonably weak characters that the series made.

*Sigh* I don't know. I'm making this review mostly because I'm bored, and partially because I really think you have let the Awesome series become. . . less awesome over the past few years. I wonder if you have just set yours hands and mouth to autopilot so you can crap these out whenever your fans get restless. Which is okay, but really crappy when those of us that remember when you were pakaging the Compilations try to watch the new stuff. It's painful. Like an iron spike to the larynx.

Brand recognition is not everything.

Oh, and a note for those that would vote this review down: I'm not saying this video has not merit in its animation or sound quality. I'm not even saying that it is poorly written, because, in a technical sense, it is not. I am saying that it is not funny. Not in the least bit. Having played Pokemon since it came out in America, and then being an avid watcher of the cartoon until it was removed from my local station about eight months after it was aired, I do not find anything worth laughing at here. Rather like the Family Guy Star Wars episodes. Yes, they are funny, but not because of the Star Wars contents, but because of the little things placed into the shows as asides to the original parody. I have the same issue here, except that there are no asides, no extraneous features. It is just the parody, and the parody, I think, sucks. And now, at over 1000 characters and close to 250 words, I think this is probably my longest review ever, and it is the lowest score I have managed to give. Unlike my highest rated and shortest review, which was for something that was not inherently an animation, but was infinitely funnier than this because of that absence and simplicity.

And now a Post Script to the review.
I realized why I dislike this. Basically, it has to do with your previous installments of the Awesome series. In the previous versions, you made the jokes come from the game itself. For Example: Awesome Center made fun of the very-obviously non-medical nature of the game, despite its advertising campaign. And the game itself exaggerated that same issue (a bomb, really?). As well, everything you used in MGA was directly made fun of in the games, which were fairly self-referential to beging with. And really, those were pretty much my favorite of all your videos, so they kinda make my point better than most. Welp, that's a lot of text, and I'm not giving a TL;DR. So, deal with it.

An Awesome Halloween An Awesome Halloween

You know. . .

I actually like this much better than anything Egoraptor has done recently.

It was just him talking, really. The visuals followed a story that was driven almost one hundred percent by the dialog. And the comedy was better here. I guess what I am saying here is; Egoraptor, you have come to the point in your career where you just suck. Figure out why this was good, and maybe you can come back to it.

I'll even help you start: This made just enough sense to actually be funny.

oh mY LORD!

I nearly died laughing when I saw this, (and then played the game and watched it a second time).

I would say I make few reviews, and I probably do, but I've done a great deal more recently. This one, I just like enough to say so. Yay for the smart making inadequate fun of the woefully idiotic.

Oh, and just because: Voice acting is awesome, animation is better than most, possibly the best text-animation I've ever seen including Hollywood (and non-Hollywood) surreal pictures. On a scale of 1 - 10 this is like an Awesome to the fourteenth power.

Strollin' Strollin'

No meme-phrase I know could cover it. . .

Until I took an arrow to the knee.

I apologize for that, but it actually happened that way. Played this, could not think of a good enough title. Played Skyrim, took an arrow straight to the knee, heard the line, made my own.

So, this game I like. Not love, but it keeps me amused when my life is draining me.

Now, some observations, because I saw no overall problem with it. First, the memes are a bit scarce for a straight-up WE MADE THIS NOW PLAY IT BECAUSE IT HAS MEMES! kind of game, which I applaud. Yes, they are everywhere, but not like, say a quick browse through /b/. Or youtube.

Secondly, the only glitch I encountered made me laugh until I about cried. Specifically: blocks disappearing when you land on them from several thousand feet above. And not those little purple HL2-sounds blocks either. Just a regular bomb block. It sploded, but I still fell through. But it made me laugh because then the Courage Wolf popup showed up with "Your bomb blocks can't save you from me" or something like that, and I though "Well, that's apt" after about ten minutes of ROFLing.

So, anyone who found a glitch either has a 3+ year old computer or is an idiot and didn't see the purple block they fell through. Which also made me laugh.

Y U NO JUMP?!

That is all.

Whoa.

Sometimes, one series needs to end before another can begin. And maybe, that's what brought you to this one.

At any rate, I was not severely impressed by this game. The puzzles were either easily solved or frustrating because I have an HD display and three-pixel gaps are unreadable on my monitor. Yet, the graphics and animation, compared to your earlier work, is incredible. And you finally gave Smiley hair, so that worked out wonders.

And really, those are my only outstanding comments. The game was just that average. Still entertaining, but average.
